Mark & Ellie
The Swan pub was built around 1398 and is oozing character and history.
Ricci Kent and Mark Dale came to the Swan in 2007. We are cousins and our grandfather William Raymond Dale, grew up in the neighbouring village Brightling.
He is on a picture which is hanging up in The Swan, as he was part of the local football team. This was taken in 1948 just after he returned from serving with the Royal Leicestershire regiment alongside Major Generals Chindits in Burma during the 2nd World War.
We have also a very successful outside catering business which Ricci now runs day to day.
Nowadays you will find Ellie, Marks wife behind the bar. Ellie has been working front of house since 2012. We have the mad Jack Fuller folly walk on our doorstep, and a great view in the summer to the coast. The winter it is a relaxing warm ambience with 2 roaring fires. All our food is created onsite and all ingredients is sourced locally.
